On March 1, Bernd Elementary School received notification that it had been officially
recertified as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. This recertification process must be completed every
two years for Leader in Me schools.


“As the District’s first Leader in Me Lighthouse School, our goal is to continue excellence in building
student leaders,” said Principal Dr. Chad Thompson. “This recertification is an honor, and our students,
faculty, and staff are all part of the Victory in Progress as we implement the Leader In Me framework on
our journey of excellence.”


Lighthouse status reflects achievement of a high standard of implementation of Leader in Me and
Stephen Covey’s book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Bernd has been recognized for a
committed effort to implement these concepts with students, families, faculty and staff.
