The Otis Redding Foundation invites the public to the center on Sat. April 11 to celebrate a year of music, education and growth at its downtown facility.
MACON, Ga. — The Otis Redding Center for the Arts is marking a major milestone — one year since opening its doors in downtown Macon.
The center officially opened in March 2025 on Cotton Avenue at Cherry Street, creating a space where students of all backgrounds can learn, practice and record music in a state-of-the-art facility. Over the past year, it has grown into a hub for young musicians and artists across the state.
Karla Redding-Andrews, the daughter of Otis Redding, said the impact has already been significant. She said the center has served more than 1,000 students through its programs and school visits in its first year.
“I think he’d be right here with us if he were alive, and I think he’s just looking down,” Redding-Andrews said. “Just smiling that knowing that we’ve created something in his legacy to make sure that kids get to experience the impact of music and arts.”
